Job Description

As a Therapeutic Riding Instructor at Equine Therapy Centre, you will provide riding sessions aimed at enhancing the physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing of clients with disabilities. Your role involves developing tailored programmes while ensuring safety and enjoyment for both clients and horses.

Responsibilities

  • Teach therapeutic riding lessons to clients with disabilities and special needs.
  • Create lesson plans that cater to the various abilities of clients.
  • Ensure the safety of clients, volunteers, and horses throughout sessions.
  • Train and supervise volunteers who assist with lessons.
  • Record and maintain client progress reports and modify lesson plans as necessary.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance programme effectiveness.
  • Assist in stable management and horse care as needed.
  • Engage with parents and caregivers to discuss client progress and gather feedback.
  • Promote awareness of therapeutic riding and the benefits of equine therapy.

Requirements

Education
  • BHS Stage 3 Coach in Complete Horsemanship or equivalent qualification
  • RDA Coaching Certificate or equivalent qualification
Experience
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in horse riding instruction, preferably with individuals with disabilities.
