Job Description

We are on the lookout for an experienced Sanitary Landfill Supervisor to oversee our landfill operations in Birmingham. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in waste management, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and leading a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations at the landfill, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor waste disposal activities and manage landfill gas management systems.
  • Ensure maintenance of heavy machinery and landfill equipment, scheduling repairs as necessary.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders including regulators and local community leaders.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and manage performance issues, promoting a safe work culture.
  • Prepare landfill capacity reports and forecast future operational requirements.
  • Drive initiatives for sustainable landfill practices, reducing environmental impact.
  • Analyse operational data for decision making and strategic planning.
  • Lead regular team meetings to discuss challenges and share operational insights.
  • Stay current with industry trends and regulations to maintain compliance.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant certifications in waste management or environmental sciences are advantageous
Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in landfill operations or waste management, including supervisory roles.
