Job Description

As a Canal Tender, you will play a vital role in maintaining the operational efficiency of our canal systems. Your responsibilities will include dredging, lock operation, and ensuring that navigation aids are in good working order. This is an opportunity to contribute to the local environment and community through effective waterway management.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain navigation channels, locks, and infrastructure.
  • Operate and troubleshoot lock mechanisms and related equipment.
  • Dredge canal channels as required to maintain navigable depths.
  • Monitor equipment and tools for effective operation and maintenance.
  • Engage with local communities and stakeholders on waterways issues.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance schedules and work plans.
  • Participate in training and safety drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Provide support during local boating events and festivals.
  • Work with environmental agencies to enhance canal ecosystems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks and incidents.

Requirements

Education
  • Valid driver's license
Experience
  • Experience operating locks and working on waterway projects

Languages
