Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Special Education Teacher specialized in working with individuals with profound mental handicaps. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education principles and a genuine dedication to improving the lives of these students.

Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized education to students with profound mental handicaps.
  • Create engaging lesson plans tailored to each student's individual learning needs.
  • Use various teaching methods to encourage cognitive and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance educational approaches.
  • Document and report on students' progress to stakeholders.
  • Foster positive relationships with students and create a nurturing classroom environment.
  • Adapt materials and strategies as required by students’ needs.
  • Stay current with special education laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Engage in community outreach to support families of students.
  • Take part in school committees focused on improving special education services.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Special Education is preferred
Experience
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques and strategies.
