Job Description

As a Deck Mechanic, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing all deck equipment on vessels to ensure optimal performance and safe operations. Collaborating closely with the Chief Engineer and the engineering team, you will ensure compliance with health and safety regulations while conducting regular inspections and preventative maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of deck machinery to ensure they meet operational standards.
  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance activities on deck systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers to implement new initiatives for efficiency.
  • Test and troubleshoot equipment functionality post-repair.
  • Advise on equipment upgrades and replacements as necessary.
  • Engage in continuous learning about new maritime technologies and methods.
  • Support the health and safety officer with compliance checks.
  • Facilitate training workshops for crew on new machinery.

Requirements

Education
  • Level 3 Diploma in Marine Engineering
  • Engineering Apprenticeship preferred
Experience
  • Experience working on various deck machinery and vessels sizes.
