Medical Records Specialist

Job Description

We are looking for a Certified Professional Coder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning codes to diagnoses and procedures, and ensuring compliance with coding guidelines and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assign codes using ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Review and verify coding for inpatient and outpatient procedures.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and guidelines.
• Process claims and assist with insurance follow-ups.
• Provide ongoing education and support to medical staff regarding coding practices.
• Resolve discrepancies in medical records.
• Stay updated with coding changes and attend relevant training sessions.
• Implement best practices for coding accuracy.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems effectively.
• Prepare documentation for audits as required.

Requirements

Education

• CPC certification required
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or a related field (preferred)

Experience

• Experience with inpatient and outpatient coding preferred
