Job Description

As a Trainmaster, you will direct and coordinate the operations of train movements and personnel to ensure safe and effective service delivery. Your role will involve managing schedules, communicating with crews, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the movement of trains, including scheduling and routing.
  • Oversee maintenance schedules ensuring all safety standards are met.
  • Ensure accurate communication with all operational teams during train movements.
  • Lead training workshops for new recruits in train operations.
  • Facilitate inter-departmental collaboration to streamline operations.
  • Implement safety and compliance programs across the team.
  • Evaluate employee performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Create and analyze operational reports to identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively to ensure the safety of personnel.
  • Engage with stakeholders to develop and enhance service offerings.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a railroad training program is preferred
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in railroad operations, including supervisory roles
Technical Skills
  • Knowledge of railroad operations and regulations
  • Proficiency in railroad operating systems (e.g., RailComm, RailSight)
Soft Skills
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and analytical capabilities
Certifications
  • Certification in railroad operations (e.g., Conductor, Engineer)
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Experience in working with multiple railroads or intermodal operations: Familiarity with complexities of coordinating multiple transport modalities.
  • Experience in budget management and cost control: Ability to manage finances for operational efficiency.
