Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Ophthalmic Laboratory Technician to join our manufacturing team in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces of various materials used in the production of eyewear, ensuring high-quality finishes and compliance with industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surface preparation for various ophthalmic materials.
• Utilise surfacing tools and equipment effectively to ensure high-quality finishes.
• Collaborate with team members to achieve production targets.
• Document production processes and outcomes for quality assurance.
• Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills.
• Manage materials inventory for surfacing processes.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues as they arise.

Requirements

Education

• Relevant qualification or certification in surface preparation or a related field.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in surface preparation, preferably within the automotive or optical industry.

Technical Skills

• Surface Preparation Techniques

Certifications

• Health and Safety Certification
• Additional certifications in optical or automotive refinishing are advantageous.

• Experience with Color Matching: Ability to match paint colours and techniques for custom finishes.
