Job Description

As a Marine Steam Fitter Helper, you will play a pivotal role in assisting the installation, maintenance, and repair of steam systems on marine vessels. This position requires a mechanical aptitude and a strong willingness to learn. Ideal candidates will thrive in a dynamic team environment and contribute effectively to various tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Help install, repair, and maintain marine steam systems under the guidance of experienced fitters.
  • Keep work areas organized and ensure tools are readily available for use.
  • Participate in training efforts and learn pipefitting and welding techniques.
  • Utilize various tools to measure and shape piping materials as required.
  • Conduct inspections to verify system efficiency and safety.
  • Work with blueprints and schematics to gain a better understanding of system layout.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to meet project deadlines.
  • Assist in record-keeping and updating system specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and marine regulations.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Apprenticeship in marine engineering or steam fitting is beneficial.
Experience
  • Experience in the marine industry is preferred but not mandatory.
Technical Skills
  • Basic knowledge of steam fitting
  • Familiarity with hand tools

Languages
  • English: Fluent
