Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Library Media Specialist to enhance our educational programs and support our students' learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have a background in library sciences and a strong understanding of media resources.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with school leadership to align library goals with educational objectives.
  • Create and distribute marketing materials to promote library services.
  • Supervise library staff and volunteers, providing guidance and support.
  • Establish partnerships with local libraries and community organisations.
  • Conduct workshops and seminars on various topics relevant to library use.
  • Reporting library statistics and outcomes to school administration.
  • Research and apply for grants to enhance library services.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to remain current in the field.
  • Implement technology to improve library usability.
  • Support the design and maintenance of the library website or online resources.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Studies, Education or similar field
  • Master's degree in Library Science or Information Management is an asset

  • 3+ years of experience managing a library or media centre
