Perfusionist

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Perfusionist to join our dedicated cardiac team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in operating the heart-lung machine during surgeries and be adept at monitoring the patient's blood flow, contributing to successful surgical outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate cardiopulmonary bypass equipment during cardiac surgery.
• Monitor patients' vital signs and adjust equipment as necessary.
• Administer medications and blood products as directed by the surgeon or anaesthetist.
• Maintain accurate records of perfusion procedures and patient data.
• Clean and maintain equipment, ensuring that it is in good working order.
• Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
• Provide support to other members of the cardiac team as required.

Requirements

Education

• BSc in Perfusion Science or related field
• Registration with the UK Perfusion Society

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a clinical perfusion role is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Microsoft Office Suite

Advantageous

• Experience with ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation): Familiarity with ECMO procedures and patient management.
• Experience with ventricular assist devices (VADs): Knowledge in operating VADs for cardiac support.
