Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Sheffield office. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components. You will work collaboratively with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

• Develop design specifications and engineering plans for mechanical systems.
• Work alongside project managers to meet deadlines and project goals.
• Implement design changes based on testing and feedback.
• Assist in the preparation of technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies.
• Engage with clients to understand their requirements and make adjustments to designs accordingly.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering

Technical Skills

• CAD Software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
• FEA Software
• Engineering Mathematics

Soft Skills

• Communication
• Problem-solving

Certifications

• Chartered Engineer (CEng)
• Six Sigma Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with project management tools (e.g., JIRA): Familiarity with tools for tracking project progress and team collaboration.
• Knowledge of regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001): Understanding of compliance standards relevant to mechanical design.
