Veterinary Assistant

Job Description

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our veterinary team and ensuring the well-being of our animal patients. The ideal candidate will have a genuine love for animals and a desire to provide exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and sanitary environment for animals in care.
• Process animal records and manage appointment schedules.
• Support the veterinary team in carrying out treatment plans.
• Participate in training and development sessions to enhance skills.
• Assist in educating pet owners on care and health maintenance.
• Handle any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Veterinary Clinic Manager.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Additional certifications in animal care or veterinary assistance are advantageous

Experience

• No prior experience required, but experience in animal care or similar roles is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Animal handling and restraint
• Knowledge of animal behaviour

Soft Skills

• Attention to detail
• Good communication skills

Advantageous

• Ability to perform basic first aid on animals: Understanding of first aid measures appropriate for different species.
• Proficiency in using animal record management systems: Experience with software used for tracking animal health and treatment history.
