Sawyer Helper

Job Description

As a Sawyer Helper at Woodwork Masters Ltd., you will assist in operating sawmill equipment and maintaining production processes. You will work closely with experienced sawyers to ensure the efficient and safe processing of timber, contributing to the high standards of quality we uphold.

Responsibilities

• Support the Sawyer in daily operations of the sawmill.
• Sort and stack lumber as it comes off the machinery.
• Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
• Conduct inspections on lumber quality during processing.
• Adhere to all workplace safety standards.
• Help prepare machinery for daily operations and maintenance.
• Foster good communication with team members to ensure efficiency.
• Engage in training sessions to develop woodworking skills.
• Participate in improving sawmill operations.
• Complete additional tasks as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent

Experience

• Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Wood Processing Knowledge

Soft Skills

• Problem-Solving

Certifications

• Health & Safety Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Forklift Experience: Certifications or experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of Lumber Standards: Familiarity with lumber grading, quality standards, and processing techniques.
