Job Description

The Railroad Wheels and Axle Inspector plays a crucial role in maintaining and inspecting the wheels and axles of trains, ensuring they meet safety standards and are fit for service. This position requires keen attention to detail and strong mechanical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect railroad wheels and axles for defects and wear.
  • Identify and report any defects or wear found during inspections.
  • Perform necessary repairs or arrange for necessary repairs to be made.
  • Maintain accurate records of all inspections and repairs.
  • Ensure that all inspections and repairs align with company and industry standards.
  • Communicate effectively with other members of the maintenance team.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours and on-call as needed.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical training or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering is preferred.
Experience
  • Experience in railway industry is preferred.
