Vehicle Diagnostic Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Vehicle Diagnostic Technician to join our team in Dumfries. In this role, you will diagnose complex vehicle issues and carry out necessary repairs to ensure optimal vehicle performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automotive technology and a thorough understanding of diagnostic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Use diagnostic equipment to assess vehicle performance.
• Complete repairs on a variety of vehicle makes and models.
• Identify parts and tools needed for repairs and order them if necessary.
• Work with the service team to schedule repairs and maintain workflow.
• Provide recommendations for vehicle improvements and upgrades.
• Conduct post-repair road tests to verify functionality.
• Help maintain inventory of tools and supplies.
• Train apprentices in safe and effective repair techniques.

Requirements

Education

• NVQ Level 2/3 in Vehicle Maintenance or related field
• Additional qualifications in hybrid vehicles would be beneficial

Experience

• 2+ years of relevant experience

• Engine Diagnostics

Certifications

• IMI Level 3 Award in Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Maintenance
• Certified Automotive Technician (CAT)

Languages

• Knowledge of European vehicle models: Familiarity with European vehicles and their specific repair standards.
