Job Description

As a Probation Officer and Correctional Treatment Specialist, you will play a vital role in guiding offenders through rehabilitation. You will conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure successful reintegration into society.

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage offender rehabilitation needs.
• Facilitate group sessions focused on re-entry into society.
• Work with external agencies to support offenders.
• Document treatment plans and progress accurately.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to coordinate support.
• Implement community service opportunities for offenders.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to promote positive behaviour.
• Conduct home visits to assess living conditions and support networks.
• Establish rapport with offenders to encourage open communication.
• Engage in continuous professional development to enhance skills.

Requirements

Education

• Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology preferred
• Licensure or certification as a Counselor or Social Worker required

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in a correctional setting preferred.

Technical Skills

• Crisis management skills
• Knowledge of the criminal justice system

Soft Skills

• Teamwork and collaboration
• Strong organisational skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience working with mental health issues: Familiarity with addressing the needs of offenders with mental health challenges.
• Understanding of community resources: Knowledge of local support services for rehabilitation.
