Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Leicester. The successful candidate will work closely with students who have diverse learning needs, tailoring educational approaches to support their individual growth and development. You will play a key role in creating and implementing engaging lesson plans that promote academic success and social skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with parents and educational staff.
  • Implement appropriate interventions and accommodations to support students' learning.
  • Monitor and report on student behaviour and academic progress.
  • Engage students in social skills training and life skills education.
  • Support transitions of students between classes and to post-school opportunities.
  • Facilitate a supportive classroom culture that encourages student voice and agency.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in special education settings

Certifications
  • Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCo) qualification
Languages
  • English: Fluent

Advantageous

  • Training in Mindfulness Techniques: Ability to incorporate mindfulness strategies into the classroom.
