Varitype Keyboard Operator

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Varitype Keyboard Operator who will be responsible for operating our Varitype machine, essential for typesetting and compositor tasks in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent typing skills and attention to detail, ensuring high-quality output for various print materials.

Responsibilities

• Manage typesetting for various print jobs including books, magazines, and promotional materials.
• Ensure printed materials meet quality standards and client specifications.
• Adapt to new software and typesetting tools as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members to facilitate smooth operation.
• Conduct quality checks before finalising any print jobs.
• Contribute to improving processes and workflows in the printing department.

Requirements

Education

• Experience with Varitype machines or similar typesetting equipment preferred.

Experience

• Experience in graphic design is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Basic computer skills
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite

Soft Skills

• Team collaboration
• Good communication skills

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Knowledge of HTML and CSS: Understanding of these languages to assist in typesetting for digital prints.
• Familiarity with typesetting software: Experience working with desktop publishing software is a plus.
