Job Description

As an Animal Caretaker, also known as a Hot Walker, you will be instrumental in the recovery and well-being of racehorses. Your primary responsibility will be to walk horses post-exercise, helping them cool down while closely monitoring their behaviour and condition. This role is essential in supporting the overall health of our equine athletes and requires a keen eye for detail and a passion for animal care.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the horses while walking and report any changes in behaviour.
  • Assist with feeding and watering horses before and after exercise.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of stables and equipment.
  • Follow established protocols for handling and caring for the horses.
  • Collaborate with veterinary staff to ensure equine health is maintained.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss horse care strategies.
  • Attend to special requirements of horses based on their training needs.

Requirements

Education
  • No formal qualifications required
  • Relevant training in equine studies is advantageous
Experience
  • Prior experience working with horses, preferably in a racing environment.
