Job Description

As the Fish Hatchery Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the daily operations of our hatchery facility. You will lead and manage a team dedicated to the breeding, care, and growth of fish, ensuring optimal conditions for their development. Your expertise in aquaculture will guide decisions on breeding programmes, water quality maintenance, and disease control, contributing to the overall success of our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee hatchery operations to maximize production efficiency.
  • Develop and implement breeding programmes that enhance genetic diversity.
  • Respond to and manage fish health issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with environmental agencies to maintain compliance with regulations.
  • Train staff on proper hatchery procedures and best practices.
  • Develop strategies for resource allocation and inventory management.
  • Create reports on hatchery performance metrics and suggest improvements.
  • Engage in community outreach to promote awareness of aquaculture practices.
  • Lead monthly meetings to discuss progress and challenges faced in the hatchery.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement among staff.

Requirements

Education
  • Master's degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, or related field
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in fish hatchery management or aquaculture operations.
