Job Description

As a Canine Handler, you will be integral to the training and management of canines for diverse roles including security and search & rescue. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of canine behaviour and the ability to communicate effectively with both dogs and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the daily management of canine operations.
  • Regularly assess canine health and report any issues.
  • Participate in joint exercises with other agencies to enhance operational readiness.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies for individual canines.
  • Create positive reinforcement strategies in training programmes.
  • Respond to emergencies involving trained canines succinctly.
  • Develop public presentations on canine capabilities and training.
  • Maintain strong partnerships with local law enforcement and community organisations.
  • Shape training protocols based on observed canine behaviours.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and compliance regulations.

Requirements

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Relevant certifications in canine handling/training are desirable.
Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in canine handling or security operations.
