Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Optical Astronomer to join our research team. As an Optical Astronomer, you will be responsible for conducting astronomical observations using optical instruments and analysing collected data to contribute to significant research projects. You will collaborate closely with other scientists and researchers, developing and utilising advanced algorithms for detailed data analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Design experiments and observational programmes to study celestial phenomena.
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of optical instruments.
  • Provide expertise in optical data reduction and analysis techniques.
  • Engage with the public through outreach and education initiatives.
  • Support funding applications by detailing research methodologies and expected impacts.

Requirements

Education
  • Ph.D. in Astronomy or a related field
Experience
  • Experience in conducting observations and analysing optical data
