We are seeking a highly motivated Plant Geneticist to join our R&D team in Margate. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting genetic research to improve crop varieties, focusing on disease resistance and yield enhancement. Responsibilities

• Investigate plant genetic variation and its implications for crop improvement.
• Work with molecular markers to enhance selection methods in breeding programmes.
• Perform statistical analyses on research data to draw conclusions and inform breeding strategies.
• Engage with local farmers to understand their needs and how genetic advancements can benefit them.
• Participate in community outreach to promote understanding of genetic research in agriculture.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop educational materials about our research work.
• Ensure laboratory safety protocols are adhered to during research activities.
• Mentor and train junior staff and interns in experimental procedures.
• Assist in the development of new technology for genetic research.
• Evaluate the commercial viability of new plant varieties developed through genetic research.

Requirements

Education

• PhD in Genetics, Agronomy, or a related field
• Master's degree in related discipline is acceptable with relevant experience

Experience

• 3+ years of experience in plant genetics and biotechnology
