Textile Conservator

Job Description

As a Textile Conservator, you will play a crucial role in preserving the cultural heritage of textiles. Your expertise will be key in assessing, restoring, and maintaining a wide variety of textile artifacts, ensuring their longevity and continued relevance.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate workshops and public talks on textile conservation techniques.
• Oversee the maintenance of conservation equipment and the studio space.
• Engage in outreach activities to increase interest in textile conservation.
• Conduct risk assessments related to textile storage and handling.
• Assist in grant writing for conservation projects.
• Support interns and volunteers in their conservation training.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in History or Cultural Heritage
• Postgraduate qualification in Textile Conservation or Artefact Conservation is preferred

Experience

• 3 years of experience in a museum or similar environment
