Job Description

Join our dynamic team as a Transportation Director, where you will lead the strategic direction of our transport operations. Your role will involve managing a dedicated team, implementing best practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation to deliver exceptional service.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the transportation department to ensure timely and safe delivery of goods.
  • Coordinate with logistics partners to streamline operations and improve service delivery.
  • Develop initiatives to enhance fleet efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure transportation performance.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to transportation staff to enhance skills and safety awareness.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Professional certifications in transportation or logistics management preferred (e.g., CILT, CSCP)
Experience
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in transportation or logistics management, with proven track record in a leadership role
Technical Skills
  • Ability to analyse data and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
Soft Skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise effectively
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Advantageous

  • Experience in the transportation industry within the UK: Hands-on knowledge of the local transportation sector and best practices.
  • Familiarity with international transportation and import/export regulations: Understanding of the complexities of global shipping and logistics.
  • Experience implementing transportation technology solutions: Proven track record in adopting and utilising transportation technologies.
  • Knowledge of lean management principles and continuous improvement methodologies: Strong foundation in lean methodologies to improve efficiencies.
