Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Shop Firer to join our mining team. As a Shop Firer, you will be responsible for safely initiating controlled explosions in designated areas to ensure smooth excavation processes. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and safety of our operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the loading and placement of explosives for maximum efficacy.
• Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of blasting operations.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and company policies.
• Conduct safety audits on explosive materials and equipment.
• Assist in developing training materials for new shop firers.
• Implement continuous improvement practices in blasting operations.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Technical diploma in mining operations preferred

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in the mining industry.

Technical Skills

• Explosive safety protocols
• Use of blast design software

Soft Skills

• Leadership
• Communication

Certifications

• Certified Mine Safety Professional (CMSP)

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in supervising or training junior shop firers.: Ability to lead and instruct less experienced staff in safety and operational practices.
• Advanced blast design software knowledge.: Proficient in using tools for optimizing blasting configurations and techniques.
