Urban Planner

Job Description

We are seeking a passionate Urban Planner to join our Birmingham office. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects aimed at improving urban sustainability and community well-being. You will engage with local authorities, stakeholders, and the public to develop effective planning solutions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate planning activities and manage project timelines.
• Prepare presentations for public consultations and meetings.
• Research and apply best practices in urban planning and sustainability.
• Negotiate with property developers and landowners.
• Collect and analyse data to inform planning policies.
• Assist in the preparation of grant applications for planning initiatives.
• Foster partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.

Requirements

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or Environmental Studies
• Master's degree in a related field is advantageous

Experience

• 5+ years in urban planning or consultancy roles

Technical Skills

• Urban Design
• Environmental Assessment

Soft Skills

• Team leadership
• Negotiation

Certifications

• Certified Urban Planner (CUP)
• Environmental Planning Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience in transport planning: Background in transport planning and infrastructure development.
• Knowledge of planning software: Familiarity with various planning and design software tools.
