Job Description

As a Railroad Brake, Signal, and Switch Operator, you will ensure the safe and timely movement of trains through our yards. You will work diligently to manage rail traffic, maintain equipment, and contribute to the efficiency of rail transport.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough inspections of railroad cars to identify damage and needed repairs.
• Utilize effective communication to coordinate with team members on car movements.
• Execute efficient sorting of cars to optimize yard operations.
• Safely operate heavy machinery, ensuring adherence to safety standards.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections and maintenance work performed.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state railroad regulations.
• Train new staff on safety and operational procedures.
• Assist in the development of improved operational protocols.
• Promote a positive and disciplined work environment.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Vocational training in railroad operations is beneficial

Experience

• Previous experience in railroad operations or similar field preferred
