Job Description

We are seeking a Genetic Counseling Medical Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide expert genetic counseling services to patients, helping them understand and make informed decisions regarding genetic disorders, inherited conditions, and genetic testing. This role involves evaluating medical histories, interpreting genetic test results, and offering emotional support.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed evaluations of patients' genetic and family histories to identify hereditary risks.
  • Deliver psychoeducational sessions to patients and their families about genetic counseling processes and outcomes.
  • Support families emotionally throughout the genetic testing journey, providing reassurance and clarification.
  • Analyze genetic test results and explain their implications to patients in a sensitive manner.
  • Collaborate with a diverse range of healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient management.
  • Keep abreast of the latest research and developments in genetic counseling to offer informed services.
  • Accurately document all patient communications and recommendations per compliance standards.
  • Participate in ongoing education and professional development to enhance skills and service delivery.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Genetic Counseling or related field
  • Master's degree in Medical Genetics is a plus
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience in clinical genetic counseling with a focus on prenatal counseling preferred.
