Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Bar Pilot to join our team. As a Bar Pilot, you will be responsible for safely navigating vessels through bars and coastal waters, ensuring the efficient and secure movement of goods. This is a challenging role that requires strong navigational expertise, excellent communication, and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Directly oversee the safety of vessels navigating through coastal bars.
  • Provide strategic advice to vessel crews on navigation and docking.
  • Evaluate local marine conditions and recommend operational adjustments as necessary.
  • Engage with environmental monitoring systems to assess navigational risks.
  • Participate in team briefings to share insights and strategies for improving safety protocols.
  • Work with port authorities to facilitate the smooth operation of maritime traffic.
  • Maintain and enhance navigational charts and data.
  • Utilise radar and GPS technology to support navigational decisions.
  • Foster relationships with maritime stakeholders, including shipping companies and regulatory agencies.

Requirements

Education
  • Valid Bar Pilot license
  • Master's degree in Maritime Studies or related field is preferred
Experience
  • At least 5 years of piloting experience in busy ports or coastal regions.
Technical Skills

Languages
  • English: Fluent
