Animal Care Technician

Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Animal Care Technician to join our dedicated team in Basildon. The ideal candidate will have a love for animals, possess practical skills in animal care, and a desire to promote health and well-being. You will be responsible for daily care, feeding, and monitoring the animals while providing excellent customer service to pet owners.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health checks and report any concerns to veterinary staff.
• Support the grooming and bathing of animals as needed.
• Assist with the socialization and enrichment of the animals.
• Handle and transport animals safely and humanely.
• Participate in community outreach programs to promote animal welfare.
• Collaborate with team members to support overall operations.
• Educate visitors about proper care practices and available services.

Requirements

Education

• Higher Education in Animal Management or equivalent

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a veterinary or animal care setting

Technical Skills

• Emergency Care
• Nutritional Knowledge

• Adaptability

Certifications

• Animal Handling Skills Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent

Advantageous

• Experience with Exotic Animals: Familiarity with handling and caring for a variety of exotic animals.
• Customer Service Experience: Experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in a pet-related business.
