Correctional Officer

Job Description

We are looking for dedicated Correctional Officers who are committed to maintaining safety and order in our correctional facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising inmates, conducting security checks, and ensuring compliance with institutional regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily activities of inmates within the facility.
• Conduct formal assessments of inmate progress in rehabilitation programs.
• Ensure all safety equipment is maintained and operational.
• Collaborate with social workers and other professionals to assist inmate reintegration.
• Promote an atmosphere of respect and safety throughout the facility.
• Monitor communications and interactions between inmates to prevent conflicts.
• Support the training of new staff and mentoring them in practices.
• Enforce policies consistently and fairly.
• Evaluate and report on facility security policies.
• Actively participate in facility improvement projects.

Requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) license
• First Aid certification

Experience

• Experience working with diverse populations is advantageous.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of legal procedures
• Basic computer skills

Soft Skills

• Good judgment
• Teamwork

Advantageous

• Training in non-violent communication: Skills in promoting understanding and effective dialogue.
• Experience in rehabilitation programs: Background in assisting with inmate rehabilitation efforts.
