Job Description

We are on the lookout for a dedicated Sign Language Teacher to join our team in Manchester. In this role, you'll be responsible for instructing students in sign language, supporting their learning needs, and fostering an inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design comprehensive lesson plans that promote effective language acquisition.
  • Foster a culture of respect and inclusivity in the classroom.
  • Engage with families to provide guidance and support for students' learning at home.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to enhance sign language awareness.
  • Utilize technology to enhance teaching and learning experiences for students.
  • Encourage student participation and collaboration during lessons.
  • Monitor and support individual students' progress and needs.
  • Create educational resources that support and enhance learning outcomes.
  • Organize events that promote awareness of deaf culture and sign language.
  • Collaborate with external organisations to provide additional resources and support.

Requirements

Education
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Degree in Special Education or a related field
Experience
  • Experience working with children with hearing impairments is highly desirable.
