Barge Captain

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Barge Captain to oversee the safe operation and management of our fleet of barges. The Barge Captain will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all necessary safety regulations, coordinating logistics, and managing the crew to ensure efficient operations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct barge inspections and ensure safe operation and maintenance.
• Plan and implement navigation strategies on various waterways.
• Direct crew activities during cargo handling operations.
• Document all operational incidents and maintain logs.
• Enforce maritime compliance and safety protocols.
• Train and evaluate crew members to maintain high performance.
• Liaise with relevant authorities for operational permits and updates.
• Quickly address and manage any emergency situations.
• Ensure effective communication with team and management.
• Work with logistics teams to align barge schedules with project requirements.

Requirements

Education

• Completion of relevant vocational training or apprenticeship

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience in maritime roles.

Technical Skills

• Crisis Management

Certifications

• Marine First Aid Certification
• Vessel Security Officer Certification

Languages

• English: Fluent
