Job Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable Histotechnologist to join our team. The successful candidate will perform histological analyses, process tissue samples, and ensure the highest quality standards in all laboratory procedures. You will work closely with pathologists and laboratory staff, using your expertise to help provide critical diagnostic information.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct histological preparations of tissue samples, including fixation, embedding, sectioning, and staining.
  • Operate and ensure compliance with laboratory safety standards.
  • Analyse and interpret histological data, preparing detailed reports.
  • Participate in research initiatives and continue education training.
  • Work with digital pathology and image analysis software.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Support the laboratory manager in implementing new technologies and processes.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's in Biomedical Science or related field
  • Postgraduate qualification in Histology is preferred
Experience
  • Proven experience in a histological laboratory setting
Technical Skills
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC)
  • Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)
Soft Skills
  • Critical Thinking
  • Effective Communication
Certifications
  • Health and Safety in the Laboratory
  • Certified Histotechnologist (ASCP)
Languages
  • English: Fluent

  • Participation in Research Projects: Experience in clinical research or trials related to histology.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS): Familiarity with LIMS for tracking and managing laboratory workflows.
