Steamboat Captain

Job Description

As a Steamboat Captain, you will have the unique opportunity to operate and maintain our beautiful steamboats, ensuring a safe, enjoyable experience for passengers. You will be responsible for navigating through various waterways, managing your crew, and upholding safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Operate the steamboat in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Manage crew operations, including performance reviews and training.
• Engage with guests, provide informative commentary, and handle inquiries.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and report any issues immediately.
• Coordinate with other steamboat crews and dock personnel for schedules.
• Respond to emergencies and assist in drills to ensure crew readiness.
• Conduct passenger briefings for safety procedures before departure.

Requirements

Education

• Knowledge of engineering and mechanics is a plus

Experience

• 5+ years operating steamboats or similar vessels

Technical Skills

• GPS navigation systems

Advantageous

• Experience with historical or tourist steamboat operations: Familiar with maintaining the heritage of steamboat operations.
• Additional marine certifications: Certifications in lifeboat operations or other marine qualifications are beneficial.
