Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and driven Substance Abuse Counselor to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide direct support to clients through individual and group therapy, develop tailored treatment plans, and monitor client progress. Your expertise will help clients overcome their challenges and embark on a journey toward recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the screening and assessment of new clients.
  • Facilitate educational and therapeutic groups on various addiction recovery topics.
  • Document client progress and maintain accurate records per clinical policies.
  • Participate in case conferences and treatment team meetings.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Attend training and continuing education programs to enhance skills.
  • Foster a supportive and empathetic environment for clients.
  • Assist clients in developing coping strategies and life skills.
  • Engage with family members to promote understanding and support during recovery.
  • Participate in community outreach programs to raise awareness about substance abuse.

Requirements

Education
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field (Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, etc.)
Experience
  • 2+ years of experience working in substance abuse treatment
Technical Skills
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
  • Fluency in a second language (preferably Spanish)
Soft Skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Team collaboration skills
Certifications
  • Certification as a substance abuse counselor or therapist preferred
Languages
  • English: Fluent
  • Spanish: Intermediate

  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles: Understanding of how trauma impacts substance abuse and recovery.
